USACC Welcomes New U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan

Washington D.C. - The US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) was honored to host a reception on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 for the new United States ambassador to Azerbaijan, Amb. Richard L. Morningstar.

Two dozen USACC members, US and Azerbaijani government representatives attended the private event at USACC offices in Georgetown.

The Ambassador touched upon the issues of energy security and cooperation in the Caspian Region, adding that the Southern Energy Corridor plays a vital role for Azerbaijan in terms of energy diversification. Ambassador also mentioned the importance of settling Nagorno Karabakh conflict for both countries.

Prior to his nomination as Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Richard L. Morningstar was the U.S. Secretary of State's Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy. Ambassador Morningstar was nominated the Ambassador to Azerbaijan by the President of the United States Barack Obama in April of this year.

The Ambassador will leave for Azerbaijan after August 25.
