Azerbaijani Tech Industry Represented Aat Silicon Valley’s Largest Conference & Exhibition

Washington, D.C. - June 15, 2015. Startup founders, representatives of business accelerators, incubators, venture capital firms as well as angel investors from around the world came together on 10-11 June, 2015 for the Annual Silicon Valley Open Doors Technology Investment Conference taking place at Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.

United States-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC), based in Washington, D.C. have also participated at the Conference and represented Azerbaijani tech industry with the support of Azerbaijan's High Tech Park (HTP).

This year Silicon Valley Open Doors Conference have attracted more than 1000 visitors, 170 qualified investors and 32 pitching companies from around the world, including Germany, India, Israel, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine.

The purpose of the trip to California by the Azerbaijani team was two-fold; discuss the success of Azerbaijani high-tech industry with focus on government incentives and projects, and showcase iCLAS project, an online platform connecting U.S. experts in entrepreneurship, technology and marketing with startup founders and entrepreneurs in the Caspian-Black Sea region through video-conference, on-demand courses and mentorship.

iCLAS is an online project supported by Azerbaijan's High Tech Park (HTP), the United States-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) and Nobel Upstream, a London based privately held energy company with offices also in Baku, Azerbaijan and Houston, Texas.

The avenues of possible cooperation with the United States within a regional context were highlighted during the presentation and one-on-one meetings with event organizers and conference attendees.

It was noted that Azerbaijan is uniquely located to become the natural hub for businesses growing in the Caspian-Black Sea and Central Asia regions. Also, high level of internet penetration, easy access, close proximity and strategic synergy with Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine, as well as property and tax incentives, co-investment options and administrative support create foundation for regional cooperation via High Tech Park of Azerbaijan.
