Robert M. Scher, Head of International Affairs for BP America, brings a wealth of expertise to the Board of Directors of The U.S.-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC). With nearly 25 years of experience in senior global affairs and national security roles in the US Government, Mr. Scher's invaluable insights and strategic acumen have made him a key asset in tracking and analyzing US foreign policy as it pertains to BP's businesses worldwide.
He served as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities in the Pentagon from 2014 to 2017, advising the US Secretary of Defense on a wide array of critical global defense, security, strategy, and budgeting matters. Mr. Scher's earlier roles at the Departments of Defense and State focused on defense strategy and Asian foreign policy, including Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia and DASD for Plans, as well as being a member of the Policy Planning Office at State.
His dedication to enhancing international relations and his experience as a consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton on defense and foreign affairs issues have contributed significantly to fostering a thriving environment for bilateral trade and cooperation between the United States and Azerbaijan under the auspices of the USACC.
