Frank Verrastro is a highly accomplished senior adviser with the Energy Security and Climate Change Program at the prestigious Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Having held prominent positions at CSIS since 2003, including the James R. Schlesinger Chair for Energy and Geopolitics from 2012 to 2017, Mr. Verrastro brings a wealth of experience in energy policy and management spanning over four decades.
With a remarkable career that encompasses both government and private sector roles, he has served in the White House and the Departments of Interior and Energy, including the prestigious position of Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Energy Resources. Mr. Verrastro's tenure in the private sector has been equally impressive, with roles at TOSCO Corporation and Pennzoil, where he held senior leadership positions overseeing government affairs, risk assessment, international negotiations, and more. He played key roles in executive management and served on various high-level committees, including the Environmental, Health, and Safety Leadership Council.
His academic credentials include a B.S. in biology/chemistry from Fairfield University, a master's degree from Harvard University, and completion of the executive management program at the Yale Graduate School of Business and Management.
An adjunct professor at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, Mr. Verrastro's expertise is widely recognized, and he has served as an expert witness before both houses of Congress and as an adviser to the National Intelligence Council. His extensive writings on energy policy, oil and gas markets, and security topics have contributed significantly to the field.
